Name: Fulmen
Species: Fairy
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Asexual
Age: 4
Height: 5.5"
Eye Color: Ice Blue
Hair Colour: White
General Description: Fulmen is thin for a fairy, but typically gaunt and pale. His violent lifestyle has led to a number of small scars on his arms and chest, as well as a large, old one almost straight down his back. Because of his vanity, however, he typically chooses clothing more modest than many of his peers, opting to hide the visible scars on a day-to-day basis under simple black clothes with green accents, to match and offset his Pipevine wings.
Personality: Fulmen began life as an artist and considers himself one still. While he rarely has the time to carve new musical instruments or play any of his old ones, he sees carving up living things until they stop living an equally beautiful endeavour. Potentially, at least. While he pursues his new craft with an artist's creativity and passion, he will tell anybody who cares to listen how easily frustrated he is becoming with the ease of his jobs. Cats are no longer satisfying canvases, and he is needing more and more difficult marks to get the same satisfaction as his skills improves. At times this can make him moody and morose, but more often he just comes off as dismissive and arrogant to his employers.
When it comes to friends, Fulmen has few, but prefers the company of passionate individuals. He cares little for the object of their passions or even if he understands what they are talking about. A rambling account of 14th century Russia will endear you to him, so long as you are excited when you talk about it. Similarly, he doesn't expect those around him to share his appreciation for his bloody art, but does expect respect for his talent. Insulting or dismissing his abilities is an easy way to find yourself on their receiving end. If you manage to put up a good fight from there, he may pull a 180 and try to mend fences, but a boring or cowardly showing will just prompt a dismissive crippling or outright execution.
History: Early in his life, Fulmen was the youngest son of a well-off fairy clan that could afford to spoil him. And spoil him they did.For most of his early years, he was able to devote his attention to music - carving, playing, and perfecting his own flutes and composing short songs to extoll the virtues of his father and siblings. Sure, he occasionally had to play the scout or foul up cameras, but all the heavy combat was handled by others. Everything was easy for him.
But as happens in Cincinati, eventually he had to stop coasting and pull some weight on a big job. He started scared, even before the fighting began. As if to validate his every fear, the battle started to go south almost the moment it began. superior maneuvering by the local pixies had managed to throw his father's attack plan out the window, and before they could recover, old Funnel was cleanly impaled.
Rather than fall to fear, however, Fulmen was overcome by rage. While the enemy pixy was extracting a bloody sword from Fulmen's father, he put his own blade in the offender's eye. While his newfound rage wasn't enough to turn the tide, he was able to create enough of a lull for him and his surviving siblings to retreat. The battle was mad, bloody, and altogether more than Fulmen could have prepared for. He loved every second.
Reeling from their defeat and bereft of his father's guidance, Fulmen knew his easy ride was over. While he no longer had any issues participating in a fight, he didn't enjoy the idea of being ordered around by anyone else in his clan and left. Despite his lack of experience, his natural creativity led to some early successes hiring himself out to other clans as an exterminator, ridding the area around their territories of cats and other large predators. Before long he found himself specializing in hunting bigger and bigger targets, and is beginning to make a name for himself as an assassin.
Family:While he refuses to submit to the will of his clan and serve them directly, Fulmen still has considerable affection for his mother, Stratis, and for her sake devotes a considerable portion of his increasing resources to making sure she (and at her insistence, his remaining 7 brothers and 2 sisters) is taken care of. Among his siblings, opinions are fairly evenly mixed between those who admire their baby brother for his talent and success and those who resent him for leaving their clan and then having the poor manners to not die a failure on the streets. While Fulmen bears them no particular ill will, his visits home are understandably infrequent and brief.
